A message from the series "Engraved." On Sunday, we will continue to discern and study the depth of each of the Ten Commandments. Pastor Chris will give us a deeper understanding of why God chose “Honor your father and your mother” to be the 5th commandment. We will discuss: What does it mean to honor your father and your mother? If the Commandments are words of life, what is it about honoring our parents that is so tightly connected with life in its fullest sense? If the scriptures teach that folly is bound up in the heart of a child, how will we ever shape their hearts to produce honor? Please take some time this week in the Word contemplating these questions, as we seek His will in this commandment.

A message from the series "Engraved." Please join us in worship this Sunday as we continue our amazing series on the “Ten Commandments”. We will look at and discuss the 4th commandment: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” In preparation, read and study Exodus 20:1-11 with a focus on verses 8-11. Also, turn back in your bible to Genesis and read chapter 2 verses 1-3. We will examine this commandment’s historical context, the Old Testament instruction and meaning, and then move to the New Testament commentary to see how this important command related to the early church and to the church today.

As we continue with our message series on the Ten Commandments, Pastor Dave this Sunday will speak to the importance of the 3rd commandment: what it forbids, and what it commands. Take time this week to read Exodus 20:1-17, and also meditate on the words of the psalmist in Psalm 138:2: “I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.” (NIV)

This Sunday, we continue our journey through the Ten Commandments by moving from the First Commandment - which calls us to have no other gods - to the Second Commandment, which warns us not to MAKE other gods. While the first speaks to our loyalties and Who we worship, the second speaks to our imaginations and how we worship Him. It was famously said that "the human heart is an idol factory," constantly shaping false images of God that suit our personal desires. Exodus 20:4–6 confronts this fallen condition of our hearts and calls us back to worship the Lord as He truly reveals Himself.

A message from the series "Engraved." What a powerful start we have had this past Sunday to our series on the Ten Commandments, “Engraved”. Pastor Dave exposed to us in this scripture the immensity and power of the Holiness of God. He showed us the relationship between law and grace and that from Old Testament to New Testament they are allies. Even before God gave the law, His grace did abound as we saw in verse 2. Let us also know the purpose of the law, which is to know God, to know His will, and to give us a mirror of the sin in our hearts. The reason we need a Savior Jesus Christ who fulfills the law. Join us this Sunday as Pastor Dave continues to proclaim the power of the message in Exodus 20:1-3. This week pray over the question: “Do you love the law as David loved it in Psalm 119:97?”

A message from the series "Mosaic of Grace." Sunday, Pastor Dave will preach on the final verses in the book of Titus. The focus verses will be Titus 3:8-15, where Paul gives final instructions and greetings. Pastor would like for you to read the entirety of chapter 3. As we conclude this wonderful series, reflect on the practical message and application for us and Perry Hall Baptist Church. In Titus, Paul instructs on the qualifications to select church elders. We learn that we should rebuke and guard against false teachers. Our responsibility is to teach and learn sound doctrine. We are to present ourselves to others as a reflection of the loving kindness, grace, and mercy of God our Savior. Oh, what wonderful teaching and wisdom there is in the short book of Titus.

A message from the series "Mosaic of Grace." This Sunday, Pastor Chris will take us to the study and teaching of Titus 3:1-10. As you read this section of scripture, realize it is saying that when Jesus appeared in His mercy and grace, everything changes, all of creation changed. When we were in the dark place described in verse 3, we didn’t rescue ourselves, we were rescued by a loving Savior. Above all, everyone who bears His Father’s image is changed.

A message from the series "Mosaic of Grace." We have just learned in the first ten verses of chapter 2 the importance of being grounded in sound doctrine and applying it to our walk. Now Paul moves to the teaching of the blessing of grace. As we were redeemed by God’s grace, we know that we were bought with a price. But grace does not end there. In His grace, we have become disciples of grace. Grace that teaches us and molds us as we strive to live godly lives. Take some time this week reading and praying over this scripture. Examining how your life has been transformed by God’s grace.

A message from the series "Mosaic of Grace." As we learned last Sunday, Paul was not afraid to be bold in warning the brethren against false and deceptive teaching. Now, as we move to chapter 2 in Titus, Paul turns his attention to the teaching of sound doctrine. This is an essential that we cannot waiver from. Our walk of Godly living is to be rooted in sound biblical doctrine. Join us this Sunday as Pastor Dave teaches on this important section of scripture. Please take some quiet time this week studying and preparing your heart for the message.
