God is known to men as three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – executing distinct but harmonious offices in the work of redemption.
We believe in the personal existence of God, the Supreme Being Who is infinite and perfect. He possesses the attributes of eternity, self-existence, immutability, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, holiness, righteousness, justice, love, mercy, and grace. In holy love, He created and sustains by His immediate presence, all things. He is the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Genesis 1:1; Malachi 3:6; Matthew 3:17; Titus 2:11-12.
We believe in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the Son of God, very God of very God; Who, in order to redeem fallen man from sin took on the form of man by the process of the virgin birth; that He was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin; that He lived in perfect harmony with God and His laws; that He voluntarily suffered death and in so doing was the vicarious sacrifice for the sin of the race; that He physically and literally rose from the dead, ascended up on high and is now enthroned at the right hand of God as the Mediator between God and the sinner and as the High Priest and Advocate of the saint; that He shall return to take into His eternal presence all those who have accepted Him as Savior and have therefore been born again. John 1:14; 8:58; Acts 1:11.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Person of the Holy Spirit; that He is equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature; that He was active in Creation; that in His relation to the unbelieving world He restrains Satan until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, of righteousness and judgment; that he bears witness to the gospel in preaching and testimony; that He is the Agent of the New Birth; that He baptizes, seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies and helps the believer. John 15:26; 16:7-14; Acts 5:3-4.
Perry Hall Baptist Church is not a building but a people – people who are passionate about knowing God, changing lives, and connecting with others. We have a heart to reach northern Maryland with the life-changing power of Jesus Christ!
Perry Hall Baptist Church began as an outgrowth of Overlea Baptist Church which began in 1918. Ground was bought at 8855 Belair Road in Perry Hall in 1956. On March 12th, 1961, the first service was held in the new facility and the congregation rose to their feet and were declared charter members of the newly incorporated Perry Hall Baptist Church.
In September of 1971, our Church established the Perry Hall Christian School. It began with 29 students that first year with students in kindergarten through second grade. The following year grades 3 through 6 were added and every year after that a new grade was added, until in 1979, the school had its first graduating class. PHCS provides an excellent education that is distinctively Christian for children K3-12th grade. See the PHCS link at the top of this page.
Perry Hall Baptist Church quickly outgrew its facilities on Belair Road, so ground was purchased at our present location at 3919 Schroeder Avenue in March of 1976. In January of 1977, services began in the newly completed Multi-purpose Building. On March 13, 1977, the present church sanctuary was completed and dedicated.
We meet every Sunday at 10 am. For additional information please contact Fred or Laurie at 410-256-8880
Perry Hall Baptist Church has a “harvest-sized vision.” We refuse to base our vision on the size of our facilities or the amount of our resources. Our driving passion is not just to fill our present facilities to over-flowing, but to reach every unchurched person within driving distance of our facilites with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. We don’t just dream of filling our sanctuary (twice!), but of emptying hell.
We realize that our facilities say something powerful about our view of our God, our view of ourselves, and our concern for and priority on people. God has blessed us with a beautiful campus, and we just recently completed a total renovation of our beautiful state-of-the-art worship center. The finished product exceeded our expectations, and received an “Award of Merit” as one of the best projects of 2006 in Maryland from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Metropolitan Baltimore.
Our plan and vision for the future is to build a new fellowship area, and church office complex. The centerpiece of this project will be to construct a “grand foyer.” This would be surrounded on both sides by new, expanded child care areas, and a church office complex. On the outside we plan to construct an additional parking lot, and open a new entrance off of Schroeder Avenue.
